sea monster

this is the best. candle. EVER. if i'm at home, this candle is lit.
i was first drawn to it because of the name. one of my husband's nicknames for me is sea monster, due to a mishap i had that involved my upper lip and some shredded seaweed that was on my hot dog (from japadog, downtown) making me look like something out of scooby doo.
the candle burns super clean, it's soy, it burns forever and the citrus scent is shockingly good. i've never raved about a candle before, but this one warrants it.
you can pick one up at nouvelle nouvelle in gastown. (did i mention they are only $14? so awesome)

shadows

i noticed last night that there was a HUGE spotlight outside our window, half a block down, and it was shining into a corner of our living room. they were filming something and had one of those massive lights on a crane. well, i became obsessed with how the light was casting shadows on the wall. i took something like, 100 pictures. of shadows. seriously. in the dark, at 10:15pm.

raggie bunny

well, since making the new raggie bear (previous post), i have now moved on to a 'raggie' version of a bunny. these fellas are a little shorter standing at 9 inches. they are made from wool suiting and are quite soft. and unlike raggie, they aren't stuffed with an old ratty raggie (blanket) but soft, hypo-allergenic polyfill. they are designed to fray at the edges and show their wear. they're a little imperfect too, just the way i like.

new bear

(gulp, i always get so nervous posting about something new i've made.) but here i go. okay, a few of you may remember when i made raggie bear for my nephew liam last year. well, i was thinking about raggie bear this weekend and decided it might be fun to make a variation of him for the shop.




standing at 11", he is taller than anything i've made before and i decided to machine stitch him for some durability. he is made from some super soft grey wool that is different than the one i use for the elephants. he is loosely stuffed with hypo-allergenic polyfill so that he is a bit squishy and can be hugged many times over. i picture him being snuggled in a crib, bed or stroller. or maybe a little hand carrying him by the leg. regardless, i thought it might be nice to offer something that could handled a bit more than my other animals, since they prefer to be loved..from a distance. (ie: being admired on a shelf)

i'm not too sure when these will make their way into the shop. i'll whip up a few to choose from and make a post about the shop update beforehand.

forest finds

i feel so touched that fawn&forest have featured me as one of their "forest finds" for july.
based out of oregon, they have created such a beautiful online space to shop for thoughtful and well designed goodies for wee ones. another reason to love them is that they offer free shipping (for most items) and no tax for orders within the states! (and a big happy 4th of july today)

fern

this is a new fern i have sitting in our living room. i love how delicate it is, but that also makes me a little worried that i may kill it. we face north and while the view of the mountains is stunning, it has made my previous attempts at keeping plants a disaster. i was very happy to see what i think is some new growth this morning. i think it's happy here!
