we found out a little while ago what we were having.

this was how we told our families via email. (all of my family is across the country. or in australia)
did you figure it out? we thought it was pretty simple but a couple of my family members weren't too sure. (in their defense, the cake was meant to be a little more pink. oh well, i still managed to eat most of it.) it's a girl!

aaaahhhhhhh!!!!
so happy for you! baby girls are the best!!! but what about her name? is it going to be cAlice...since it is such a wonderful name, you know!
omg, so silly! there is a "c" in front of Alice (on my first comment...I don't know why it is there)...and this is a bad word in french (and a church word since all our bad words have religious origins in Quebec).
thanks claudia! well, we have a few names in the running but nothing concrete yet. we feel like we need to meet her before deciding?
i'm intrigued, what is the bad word?
Congratulations, Kate! What a sweet quilt.

As for the quilt I think you must have had mummy intuition.

Sweetest Congratulations!...
oh, beautiful. how sweet, babies are divine, can't wait for you to meet your little girl, it's the most wonderful thing.
Congratulations! And that quilt is just too precious, the fabrics are gorgeous!
oooh sweet pinks. you are so cute with your pink cake.
x.
Congratulations! I loved seeing this today. I am expecting and had a dream last night that ours is a little girl. We find out for sure in 3 weeks and I, too, want to do the surprise cake, even though our families are right here. I've heard of some people having the technician write the baby's sex in an envelope flap for a bakery without telling the parents-to-be so that they will cut into the cake and find out right with everyone else. Too cute!
