thrifty

i spotted these adorable bloomers on j.crew the other day. and thought alice would look super cute in them this summer. but they don't them ship to canada for some reason.

 so i got these three pieces at h&m for the same price as the bloomers.

i love a good deal. now if only it would stop raining and warm up so she could wear them....

custom quilt

i recently finished a custom quilt order for a lovely customer in florida.

she wanted it in the style of this quilt, which i am naming 'the scarlet quilt' since it is the first one i made like this and it was for baby scarlet. i did make up this pattern myself, although it's nothing new- it's a take on a coin quilt.

i like having the back in a solid fabric.

she picked out all of her fabrics from choices i had emailed her to coordinate with the baby's nursery. she did a great job! it's washed and has that great crinkly-quilt feeling to it.

now it's been mailed and is awaiting the arrival of it's new little owner. i can't wait to see a picture of the quilt in it's new home!

palm springs

a few quick pics from our recent trip (first with a baby!) to palm springs. we rented a groovy mid century wexler steel house and it was great! i'm SO glad we did it, i think it made it so much easier with alice. i loved having a kitchen where i could prepare her meals (which she refused to eat) and a room to nap in quietly. it was also amazing having our own pool!! it felt like a treat, for sure and we put it to good use. 

we mainly relaxed and hung around the house which was our goal, but also made it out to go on walks around the neighborhood to check out some great architecture, lunch at the ace, pizza at matchbox, breakfast at cheeky's. 

i can't believe that this is what i looked like almost exactly a year ago when we were here last.....

......and now this. what a difference a year makes!!

holiday

just relaxing in palm springs for our first trip with the baby. she's been great so far! except for the nighttime sleep but that's nothing new. 

soooo happy we rented a house, it's taken some of the pressure off and we've been enjoying the pool like nobody's business. i mean c'mon, just look at that tiki!
